Who is Jim?

Jim is a native Californian and has lived in Bakersfield since 1991. He returned to college in 2011 while still in sales and security systems design, completing two Masters degrees and his teaching credential to pursue his passion for education.
A life-long musician, Jim has been on the Bakersfield music and entertainment scene since 1995 as an ensemble and solo performer, and became a praise team leader in 2013. He continues to do charity banquet musical entertainment for Right to Life Kern County, as well as Kern County Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
In 2022, Jim was offered a charter coaching position with Kern Resource Center, a private homeschool enterprise now in its third year. The power of a faith-and-family based education environment continues to reinforce Jim’s passion for teaching English and History from a Christian perspective.
Since 2020, Jim has been a vocal community advocate for transparency in local government and education issues, and continues to work with several local organizations while representing the New California State movement for Kern County. His broad life experiences and love for learning create an atmosphere of encouragement that leads to the development of young people into effective communicators and bold leaders.

Hello, My name is Jim Robinson.

“I humbly ask you to join me in my effort to be a leader in the new direction that our education system requires. I promise to do everything that it takes to be worthy of your faith in me.” – Jim

Candidate Statement

As an English and History teacher, I believe that quality education is built on communication. The four domains of human communication are speaking, listening, reading and writing. These basic, traditional skills are the four cornerstones of intellectual and social development, the foundational skills that support learning across all curricula. Good communication is what fosters the development of the critical thinking skills that facilitate a lifelong desire for learning. Good communication is essential to establish the student/parent/teacher bonds necessary to deal successfully with the complexities of America’s ever-changing ideological and cultural climate.

Good communication skills facilitate learner confidence, providing students the ability to engage in robust learning environments. The result is ongoing development of the critical thinking skills necessary for students to make and articulate the important life decisions that they will face after high school.

Functional communication and critical thinking skills are foundational, not ideological. In order for students to set and reach high educational goals, parents and schools must work together to create foundations that foster strong education ideals, rather than the inculcation of ideologies.
